Heather Obernolte
Heather Obernolte, M.A. – Heather and her husband, Jay, have lived in the Big Bear Valley for over 17 years. They have two sons, Hale age 13 and Troy age 11. Heather brings a unique perspective to the Education Trust because she is a homeschooling parent. Both of her children have attended Bear Valley Unified Schools, so she has seen the positives that the schools have to offer, but also the areas in which they could use improvement. She has been using this information in an advisory capacity with the School District for the past two years as a liaison between the District and homeschool families.
After receiving her Master’s Degree in Child Psychology from Pepperdine University, Heather moved to Big Bear and has always been extremely involved with our Valley. She was on the DOVES (Domestic Violence Education and Services) Board for ten years, serving as Chairperson for two. She also volunteered for DOVES as a hotline counselor and supervisor, group facilitator at the shelter, and she started the Legal Advocacy program at the Outreach Center. She has been a member of the Hospital Foundation, Venture Club, Big Bear Mom’s Club, and is now the President Elect of Soroptimist International of Big Bear Valley. She is also the community coordinator and coach for Odyssey of the Mind.
